A NIGHT OF HORROR INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2022 PROGRAMME RELEASED

Australia’s original and longest-running genre film festival returns to Dendy Cinemas Newtown for their 14th Edition and it’s jam-packed full of nightmare delights!

Seventeen features and forty-eight short films from down under and around the globe. Two international short film programs, the festival’s signature Aussie Shorts Gala, plus short films in front of nearly every feature film. All the features are Australian Premieres, including three Australian features, two of them having their World Premieres!

Highlights include, Sylvia Caminer’s whip-smart US psycho-thriller FOLLOW HER plays with our social media obsessions and the ever-increasing threat of surveillance and fragile privacy, featuring a performance from ex-pat Sydneysider Luke Cook that’s one of the year’s best surprises.

Elise Finnerty’s haunting, dream-like tale of two siblings caught up with their own troubled past and the ancestral vices that are weighing heavily, THE ONES YOU DIDN’T BURN tackles the spectres of paranoia and delusion, and vengeance with a style that smolders.

From Belgium, the festival’s most unusual film will linger long in the mind, LOGGER is a striking, powerful vision, recounting various perspectives surrounding the discovery of a savagely mutilated body in the forest, all of them desperate for the truth, until Death herself enters the scene.

Isaac Ezban’s wild and wicked EVIL EYE, a tale of a grandma who’s really a witch, and the young teenage girl and kid sister who must grapple with the malevolent old woman who isn’t interested in soft cuddles, before it’s all too late.

FEED ME is a truly outrageous, pitch-black comedy of manners that is the midnight (movie) snack you’ve been salivating for, as a heartbroken man at wit’s end finds himself in the home of a deranged cannibal. Perfect fodder for the hard, desperate times we live in.

Imagine the dark romance and otherworldly weirdness of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, but set in smalltown, rural Australia. YOUR LOVE IS MINE is the story of two lovers, torn apart by tragedy, and the unthinkable lengths one will go to preserve their union.

From the UK, Stephanie Zari’s disturbingly funny portrait of a damaged mind, ZEBRA GIRL features one of the best performances of the year from Sarah Roy, who co-wrote the screenplay, about a young woman and her seemingly perfect married life put through the ringer, and the darkest of secrets that come to light.
